Yorkshire Steel Buildings are able to offer a variety of buildings for domestic & leisure purposes
An increasing number of Houses and other Domestic builds are now including steelwork in the design. Steel allows for huge versatility in design with large open spans that would not be possible or as cost-effective in traditional build methods. The speed of build is also unrivalled with house frames often being erected in just 1 day.
We have experience of working with Architects, Builders, Engineers & Project Managers from the very start of your domestic project and with our own in-house Detailing Service and Fabrication we can produce your dream build on time and on budget.
Most new buildings will need some kind of planning consent and Yorkshire Steel Buildings can start right at the beginning of the building process by handling your planning application for you or assisting with it.
We are well versed in Local Planning Authority requirements for planning applications and have plenty of experience in obtaining Agricultural planning consent with 100% success rate with both Full Planning consent and Prior Notification Applications.
YSB can simply provide scale plans for your application or provide a full applications service. We can also call on the services of recommended Architects & Planning Consultants for more complex developments.
YSB are well placed to handle any planning issues that you may have with your proposed building.
We feel that it is important when considering a new building to spend time on the design. After all, this building will hopefully serve you for the next 30-50 years. We will talk through various aspects of the design with you and look at your current and possible future demands on the building. We can advise on animal housing requirements, crop storage capacity, ventilation issues, access requirements, cladding materials and a host of other issues to enable us to design and build the ideal building for your needs.
All our buildings are designed in line with BS EN1090 using the new Eurocodes with allowances for British Standard BS 5502 on Agricultural Buildings.
Since the Construction Products Regulation came into force in 2014 it has been a legal requirement for all structural steelwork to be CE Marked. YSB
We design and fabricate our buildings at our own workshop. Our buildings are made with
We employ solid construction techniques in our buildings to ensure that they are built to the highest standard and have maximum strength and durability.
Other materials including timber, galvanized steel purlins & supports, fibre cement sheeting, box profile steel sheeting, insulated composite panels, pre-stressed concrete panels & doors are all sourced from reliable, quality suppliers which we maintain excellent working relationships with.
We have our own in-house Steel Detailer who draws up all of our buildings using TEKLA Modelling software. This allows us and our Customers to see a full 3D Model of the building before production begins, allowing for the smallest of details to be seen and modified. We find this service invaluable in allowing an open channel of design information to be passed between Customer and YSB ensuring that you get the building that you want…to the last nut and bolt!
We also provide Steel Detailing and Structural Steelwork Design as a standalone service to Architects, Engineers and Customers. Please contact us for further details.
FOUNDATIONS & GROUNDWORKS
The site preparation and setting of Foundations are fundamental to the construction of any quality building.
YSB recognise this and are very proud of our meticulous attention to detail with Foundations. We will advise the Customer on the Groundworks required to prepare a site and can provide this Service where required.
We set all our own foundations to ensure that our buildings erect safely, quickly and precisely. The foundations usually consist of a concrete “pad” which is excavated and then poured with concrete according to the specification of the building. Into that concrete, we set holding down bolts which the building columns will be bolted to in the first phase of erection. This is the safest and most efficient way of preparing the Foundations.
We can bolt smaller buildings directly to concrete floor slabs.
Our on-site construction is usually carried out by our own staff with approved, known sub-contractors used for selected projects. We believe that this ensures that the building is erected with the same attention to detail as we apply to the design and fabrication.
Our site personnel care about the construction of the building. Once we have started we will work safely, skilfully and consistently to complete the job. We have a policy of only working on one job at a time, so once we start your job we should be there until finished!
All our site staff are CSCS qualified and hold current Plant Operators Certificates and are regularly trained by both our Internal Safety Consultant and External Training Providers. We provide RAMS and CDM documentation for all our work.
We are often approached to refurbish existing buildings. This can include everything from replacing gutters to stripping existing cladding and supplying and fixing new. This can often make an ageing building look like new again or even change the use of a building to suit a new requirement.
We also carry out repairs to buildings from replacing broken roof-lights to fabricating and fitting new steelwork.
Although we see clear benefits in our company dealing with all aspects of your building from planning, through setting out foundations to erecting & cladding the building, we will also do “supply only” buildings supplied with all drawings for self-erection.
Please note. This Service is only available subject to Fabrication Capacity of our Workshop.
